I’m not talking about that pandemic. I’m referring to the other one. There is a mental health crisis of pandemic proportions in America and around the world. Suicide is the second leading cause of death among college students and among young adults, ages 18–34. Suicidal ideation also has increased among older adults, including those in the geriatric population. In addition, there has been an increase in the number of youths who present with mental health concerns. Employers in the United States spend approximately $100 billion due to unaddressed mental health concerns. There is no demographic in America that is not impacted, in some way, by mental health disorders.
Join me as we bring awareness to the national and global crisis of mental health and trauma. Among other related topics, we will focus on mental health in workplace and in the faith community. Together, we can make a difference. Thank you for being a part of the conversation and solution. There is hope.
“The financial costs of unaddressed mental health concerns and lack of trauma-informed care are astronomical. But the real price is paid in human suffering. We must change that.”
